My first attempt at a dark area of nebulosity, the images of which I love.
Oh boy was this a challenge for me to process. It's only 6 hours of data and from a Bortle 5/6, more integration time and a dark site surely would have helped. A young family makes it tricky for me to travel somewhere darker and for me this target is getting lower in west towards a bright light dome, a few miles west of my location is the main terminal for the British side of Channel Tunnel, so I try to avoid imaging low in that direction.
I wanted to give this sort of target a go regardless as these are some of my favourite images on AstroBin. After about 8 attempts I've finally managed something I feel is acceptable.
It's nothing like the standard of images I admire from the likes of
@Steed Yu@Yizhou Zhang
@Sendhil Chinnasamy but I'm pleased I've had a go at least.
Perhaps for my next attempt I'll image from my parents house in a Bortle 4 and choose a target positioned well for collecting longer integration.
